MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
MIKUMI NATONAL PARK
Mikumi National Park is the Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park. It covers an area of 3230 km² sharing a common border and ecosystem with Nyerere National Park to the south, lying astride the main highway to Zambia. Mikumi National Park is bordered by the Udzungwa Mountains and the Uluguru Mountains as well Malundwe Mountain which connects with Uluguru. The main feature of the park is the Mikumi flood plain, along with the mountain ranges that border the park on two sides. Open grasslands dominate in the flood plain, eventually merging with the Miombo woodland covering the lower hills. The National Park offers an exclusive visiting feel as it accepts very fewer visitors every year. For those who are looking for a Tanzania safari holiday in less crowded parks, Mikumi can be the best option for them. The park has a different variety of animals including, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, elephant, eland, warthog, impala, baboon, hippo, waterbuck, lion and leopard. The park also offers more than 400 recorded bird species including European migrants during the rainy season.
