Day 1

Arrival – Kilimanjaro International Airport

Karibu Tanzania! Kick off your green season escapade at Kilimanjaro International Airport, JRO, which is 40 kilometers east of Arusha. A welcoming representative awaits you at the arrivals area with a placard displaying your name, promising a warm welcome after your journey. You will be transferred to Zawadi House in Arusha, which is regarded as the safari hub of Tanzania, located at 1,400 meters. Zawadi House boasts a hospitable atmosphere as well as comfortable rooms complete with en-suite bathrooms. Above all, this cozy establishment is conveniently placed in peaceful surroundings. Day 2

Arusha – Tarangire

Depart Tarangire National Park after enjoying the Zawadi breakfast, which includes a selection of fresh fruits and Tanzanian coffee, and start a 2.5-hour journey (120 kilometers) to the park with picnic lunch boxes. The park is 2,850 square kilometers, and during the green season transforms. The Tarangire River expands, silale swamp shines, and up to massive elephant herds—wallowing in mud—of 300 strong. Full-day game drives reveal plains alive with baobab-dotted giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, 550 bird species, and more. During this time, visitors are fewer and the experience is serene. Dinner prepared with local flavors served while rain gently patters, enjoyed at the Tarangire Safari Lodge, which is built on a bluff and has en-suite tents overlooking the river.

Day 3

Tarangire – Lake Manyara

Have breakfast at your leisure at Tarangire Safari Lodge. Later, travel to Lake Manyara National Park, a 330-square-kilometer park situated between an escarpment and an alkaline lake, which is 1.5 hours (70 kilometers) away from Tarangire. A full day game drive traverses thick forests and grasslands in search of tree-climbing lions (a rare sight) as well as flamingos, pelicans, and storks. These birds are part of over 450 species that inhabit the park and can be seen during the wet season. Additionally, Buffalo, hippos, and baboons also inhabit the area, which becomes lush due to rains from November to May. Day 4

Ngorongoro Crater – Southern Serengeti

After breakfast at Marera Valley Lodge, drive to Ngorongoro Crater, stopping for a picnic lunch en route, a distance of 100 kilometers, which will take approximately 2 hours. The 304-square-kilometer caldera, the world’s largest unbroken and unflooded, shelters almost 30 animals, including the Big Five – lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rare black rhinos near swamps. Herds of wildebeests and zebras graze on verdant pastures while flamingos fill Lake Magadi, one of Africa’s seven natural wonders. After lunch, continue the 80km drive towards the southern savannahs Ndutu region will take 2 hours. Here, green plains usher in the calving season. Check into Ndutu Safari Lodge, a bush-style retreat in en-suite bungalows set amongst acacias. Dinner is served beneath the stars.

Day 5

Southern Serengeti

After breakfast at Ndutu Safari Lodge, enjoy a full day of game driving in the south Serengeti within its expansive 8000 square kilometers of plains, which bloom from November to May due to rainfall. During this period, the great migration’s calving takes place, attracting over 500,000 wildebeest calves and subsequently spawning lions, leopards, and cheetahs to the Ndutu area. Your private guide expertly steers to the action, revealing plains game of zebra, gazelle, and buffalo set against wildflower backdrops with seasonal waterholes. Enhanced by fewer vehicles, the intimate experience of the wet season is unique. Return to the lodge, where en-suite cottages provide comfort and fresh, savory dinners are served, and the bush is alive with nocturnal activity.

Southern Serengeti

The Ndutu area’s open plains and Lake Ndutu shimmer with water, hosting the migration’s calving herds—wildebeest and zebras with newborns—alongside active predators like lions lounging on kopjes and cheetahs stalking prey. Over 500 bird species, including Kori bustards, flourish in the wet season’s abundance. Your guide tailors the day, pausing for a picnic lunch with panoramic views. Return to the lodge for a warm dinner, reflecting on the day’s diverse sightings under a tranquil sky.

Day 7

Serengeti – Arusha

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Ndutu Safari Lodge, soaking in the Ndutu plains’ serenity, then choose a morning game drive to catch final glimpses of the migration—calves tottering beside mothers—or opt for an early start back to Arusha. The 5-6-hour drive (300 kilometers) offers a scenic route through Tanzania’s highlands, or discuss an optional flight from a nearby airstrip (1-2 hours) for a quicker return, subject to availability. Arrive in Arusha for a light lunch at a local spot, then transfer 1 hour (40 kilometers) to Kilimanjaro International Airport, timed to your flight home, departing with memories of a lush, vibrant safari.
